We have a rare concentration of creative people living here and contributing to all 12 sectors of the creative economy: biotechnology, innovation technology, architecture and design, visual arts, health and wellness, performing arts, sports and recreation, music, food and agriculture, communications and digital media, cultural heritage and literary arts. Local talent permeates each of these sectors, making the Gainesville area a wellspring of ideas, model programs, rich cultural innovations and inventions. The creative work of each adds immense value and wealth creation to this community. The result is that the Gainesville area is emerging as a national and global hot spot. In the last two years alone Gainesville has been named as one of America's 25 smartest cities, one of the nation's top 10 small cities, a hot spot for young professionals and a top bike-friendly city. Forbes Magazine even listed Gainesville as one of the best places for business and careers. | read more
